Your choice of flooring is key to creating your own style within your home. From traditional to contemporary, rustic to polished, getting your floor right is so important when it comes to creating an overall look for a room.

This week we are going to focus on contemporary spaces and look at some of our favourite vinyl floors from Amtico and Karndean. If you’ve opted for high-gloss kitchen units, or you’re looking to create a super modern bathroom, here’s some of the latest flooring designs that will compliment the look perfectly.

 1. Exposed Concrete by Amtico

We love this tile from the Amtico Signature range. It’s so versatile but we love pairing it with contemporary kitchens or bathroom designs. Laid in the Staggered Block laying pattern, it gives a uniformed, clean finish but its stone design also adds interest and a touch of warmth.

2. Knight Tile in Brushed Oak by Karndean

Pairing a modern room with a wood effect floor can create a striking, dramatic contrast. Wood is also a timeless classic, so will ensure that a modern room remains timeless and won’t outdate for years to come. We love Brushed Oak from Karndean’s Knight Tile range.kp101-warm-oak-knight-tile

3. Chroma Black by Amtico

If it’s a striking floor you’re after there are a fantastic range of slate coloured tiles in different styles and designs from modern abstract patterns to textured stone. We absolutely love the Chroma abstract tile from the Amtico Signature range. With dark, smoky textures and metallic waves, it creates a distinctive luxurious feel in any room. Choose a unique laying pattern such as the Block Weave to add even more interest.ar0ach22-chroma-black-ar0d1500-block-weave-february-16-cmyk-jpeg

4. Da Vinci in Molten by Karndean

This tile is inspired by weathered steel. Its vivid orange colouration is tempered by darker, speckled elements that reflect the effects of oxidisation and weathering. This creates a striking floor that carries the cool, industrial feel of metal – pair with plain walls and simple furnishings for a stark, industrial feel.

5. Mica Mix Eggshell by Amtico

Slick and resin-like Mica Mix Eggshell is an ideal tile for a minimalist contemporary look. You can also mic it with a darker contrasting style in one of the alternative laying patterns for a truly striking look.
